Six junior badminton players flagged off for World Junior Championship in India

Uganda has sent six junior badminton players of both genders to take part in the World Junior Championship in Guwahati, India. Following the flag-off conducted by Ivan Niwamanya, the Sports Officer of the National Council of Sports, an event held at their offices in Lugogo.

The team is leaving the country for the championship organized by the Badminton World Federation between 6th and 19th October 2025, with the players participating in both team and individual events.

At the event, Joshua Richard Muguluma will be in charge, with Tahiah Nansubuga managing the team tasked to face hurdles against China, England, Turkey, and Ghana in Group D.

The team is packed with great talents: Denis Mukasa, Arafat Tendo Kibirige, and team Captain Akbar Nooh Oduka, while on the girls’ side, Kate Ndagire, Maliha Musa, and Vivian Marry Nalule were seen to be the best representatives for Uganda.

The tournament is scheduled to shuttle off with team events between the 6th and 11th before switching to individual events from 13th to 19th October 2025. Uganda has played in the championship on three occasions since making its debut in 2018 in China, and on those occasions, Uganda is winless in 10 games.
