Cricket Cranes skipper Juma Miyaji hailed his teammates’ spirit after Uganda sealed a fourth straight win in the Pearl of Africa T20 Series, beating Nigeria by 38 runs on Tuesday at Lakeside Oval, Entebbe.
“It’s my fourth win as captain. The boys are doing a great job, and we’re fighting hard,” Miyaji said.
Uganda, batting first after Miyaji won the toss, posted 147 for 6. Nigeria struggled in reply, bowled out for 109 in 18.1 overs, undone by Uganda’s tight bowling and sharp fielding.
Miyaji chipped in with 6 runs and later took 2 wickets for 19, but he was quick to highlight others.
“Shrideep’s knock was crucial, and his partnership with Robinson set us up well. Partnerships win games.”
The Cranes have followed a simple formula all tournament; bat first, set a target, then defend it with disciplined bowling. Tuesday’s result marked their fourth win by runs.
“Bowling in partnerships is key,” Miyaji added.
“Baguma bowled really well, and I just had to close things out and keep them under 120, it worked.”
With Kenya up next on Friday, Miyaji said the team is focused and learning.
“Everyone knows what to fix. We’re staying positive and taking every game seriously.”
Asked if he expected to be unbeaten after four games, Miyaji smiled:
“My game starts with a toss. If I win it, I know it’s our day. We’re here to win.”
