Uganda Gazelles have welcomed captain Flavia Oketcho as the latest to join up with the rest of the team as preparations for the FIBA Women’s Afrobasket tournament heat up.

The Gazelles will round off a week of training sessions this Sunday at the Africa Bible University in Lubowa.

Oketcho, who has been away in the UK, missed the first five training sessions but inks up to add her exemplary leadership.

The Gazelles camp will be buoyed by the arrival of US-based Melissa Akullu, who is expected at training on Tuesday.

The same can be said of head coach Alberto Antuna, who will also be expected to join on Tuesday. The team is currently in the hands of assistant Nicholas Natuhereza.

The Gazelles are set to train until July 15, when the final 12 will be announced, and enter residential camp for two weeks before flying out to Kigali, Rwanda, for the tournament.

Uganda is pitted in Group C alongside giants Senegal and Mali, with the tournament slated for July 28 to August 6.
