Just days after securing their place in the National Basketball League (NBL) by taking over Our Saviour Basketball Club’s spot, Sommet Basketball Club has made another bold move, announcing Albert Aciko as their new head coach.
Aciko, a well-respected figure in Ugandan basketball, brings a wealth of experience both as a player and a coach.
Having made a name for himself during his playing days with the Kyambogo Warriors, he later transitioned into coaching, leading teams such as the KCCA Leopards and the Uganda 3X3 national team.
His recent participation in the FIBA 3X3 Elite Camp 2024 in Tunisia further solidifies his credentials.
There, he gained valuable insights and knowledge, which he is eager to implement to elevate the skills of his players and fellow coaches.
Now, Aciku faces his first major test as Sommet Basketball Club’s head coach when they take on JKL Dolphins on Sunday, March 23rd, at 2 PM at the Lugogo Indoor Arena.
With a new club, a new coach, and a fresh start in the NBL, Sommet Basketball Club is making a strong statement about their ambitions for the upcoming season.
