Soroti City made it three wins in a row against their city rivals Olila following their 3-wicket win in the National Women’s Super 7s T20 Cup on Monday.
Soroti, after losing the toss were asked to bowl first! Despite Malisa Ariokot scoring 36 runs for her team, Olila were restricted to 110/6.
It was a total that proved hard to defend as Soroti chased it with 6 balls spare.
Opening batter Kevin Awino (27), team captain Janet Mbabazi (25) and opening bowler Irene Alumo (16) got the runs for their team as they retained the city’s bragging rights.
It was their third successive win against their city rivals following their double header win in the league back in April.
Ariokot with 36 runs and 2 wickets was named the Player of the Match, but her efforts were futile as they lost the game.
Jimia Muhammad (19) and Rachael Achan (20) also got the runs for Olila, but the total turned out paltry for the chasing team. Lorna Anyait also picked two wickets for Olila.
The result means Olila begin their Super 7s campaign with a loss.
Soroti City meanwhile remain second. They now have the same points (6) as the leaders Aziz Damani, but remain second due to an inferior net run rate.
