Women’s T20 Final | Saturday
- Soroti CC Vs Olila CC -Lugogo Cricket Oval | 2 PM
Soroti City and Olila Cricket Club will face off once again in the Women’s T20 League final this Saturday at Lugogo Oval, reigniting a fierce rivalry in Ugandan women’s cricket.
It’s a repeat of last year’s final, where Soroti edged Olila by 16 runs, thanks to a blistering 43* off 22 balls from Proscovia Alako.
That win added to Soroti’s dominance over Olila, who hasn’t beaten them since winning the 2022 title.
Since then, Olila has suffered three straight losses, including two painful defeats in 2023 that cost them the championship by a single point.
This time, Olila returns with something to prove and their eyes set on revenge.
Both teams come into the final unbeaten. Soroti topped Group A with four wins from four. Olila did the same in Group B.
In the semifinals, Soroti swept aside Jinja SS by 54 runs, while Olila thumped Tornado Bees by 59.
The final will showcase Uganda’s top talent. Soroti fields national team stars like captain Janet Mbabazi, big-hitter Alako, and all-rounders Kevin Amuge and Sarah Tino.
They’re backed by former U19 players Jimia Mohammed and Rachael Achan, plus 2024 MVP Naume Amongin.
Olila brings their own firepower: Victoria Pearls spinner Sarah Akiteng, wicketkeeper-batter Esther Iluko, and seasoned internationals Phiona Kulume and Malisa Ariokot.
Young guns like Lorna Anyait, Asumin Akurut, and Josephine Icumar add depth.
With former giants Aziz Damani absent, Soroti and Olila have risen to the top and at 2 PM on Saturday, only one will walk away with the title.
