Jamus FC are making noise, once flying under the radar, the South Sudan Premier League champions are now being talked about as the region’s next big spenders.

South Sudan international Rashid Okocha has joined the club on a two-year deal from Uganda’s NEC FC. A solid left-back and regular for the Bright Stars, Okocha’s arrival is just the latest in a growing list of eye-catching signings as Jamus gear up for their first-ever CAF Champions League appearance.

This isn’t the Jamus of old. After going unbeaten last season and finishing with 68 points in 21 matches, the Juba-based side is no longer content with just local dominance; they want to compete on the continent.

And they’re backing it up with action. Okocha joins a squad that has been significantly strengthened in recent weeks

  • William Gama from Onduparaka SC
  • Felix Obama from KCCA Soccer Academy
  • Hassan Wasswa Dazo from Kator FC
  • Kevin Muhire, former Rayon Sports captain
  • Jaffar Kerepi, Shabani Kagayo, Josue Manuma, Fichal Ouro Guezere, Houessi Hariston Hessou, Hergy Samoni, Madut Chol and Martin Otwao

And they may not be done yet. Sources say they’re chasing Ugandan striker Ivan Ahimbisibwe, one of the region’s most consistent goal scorers.

Landing him would send an even louder message. With every new signing, Jamus are changing the conversation around South Sudanese football and offering a chance to continental football to some Ugandan players.
