Nsambya-based male Volleyball side, Sport-S defeated UCU Doves in straight sets to win the 2023 National Volleyball Club Championship.
Favourites and two-time defending champions Sport-S put up a solid defense thus winning a couple of points off blocks at Old Kampala Arena.
Also, experience from old guns saw them give away fewer free points, especially on the serve as they successfully won their third Club Championship title in a row.

Sport-S started strong with a 25-18 first-set victory and simply stayed calm to win the next two 25-21, and 25-20 yesterday evening.
However, Sport-S had a thorn in their flesh in UCU’s hard-hitter Gideon Angiro whose spikes cut through akin to a hot blade through butter.

This was a replay of the 2023 National Volleyball Championships men’s final since action over the weekend was cut short by insufficient lighting at Kakyeka in Mbarara City.
Unlike the men’s final, Mbarara gave birth to a female side champion as Ndejje University Elites dispatched Sport-S Ladies.

The students secured a 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-19) sets win to qualify for next year’s Africa Volleyball Club Championship.
With funds in place, both sides will represent Uganda next year at the Africa Volleyball Club Championships.
