Sports Club Villa have marked 50 years of history with the launch of their official Jubilee magazine, The Jogoo, a publication that captures the journey of Uganda’s record champions from humble beginnings to national dominance.
Unveiled on February 28, 2026 at the Mandela Group of companies headquarters in Industrial Area, ahead of the club’s general meeting at East High School in Ntinda, the magazine reflects on Villa’s story since their founding in January 1975 as Nakivubo Boys. A commemorative souvenir and reflection of identity, growth and purpose.
Club spokesperson AIGP Asan Kasingye described the journey as one built “from individuals to a united force, founded on trust and sustainability” a philosophy that has shaped Villa’s rise over five decades.
The publication revisits a trophy laden history, 17 Uganda Premier League titles, nine Uganda Cups, three CECAFA Club Championships and a memorable run to the final of Africa’s premier club competition, now known as the CAF Champions League.
Since transforming into a dominant force in the early 1980s, Villa established a culture defined by strong leadership, elite talent and a winning mentality.
At its core, The Jogoo honours the people behind the success. It features current senior players, the Under 21 squad and legends who defined the club’s golden years, alongside coaches, administrators and supporters who built the Villa identity.
It connects generations from the pioneers of 1975 to today’s players chasing continental success.
The magazine also highlights reforms that have reshaped the club’s structure. It details the Villa Members Trust model introduced in 2020, shifting the club toward community ownership to strengthen transparency and long term stability.
Under president Omar Mandela, in office since 2021, Villa continue to blend sporting ambition with modern governance.
As part of the jubilee celebrations, the club will release its election roadmap on March 1, 2026. Plans for a permanent home are also advancing, with a new stadium set to be unveiled on March 20, 2026.
At 50, Villa are celebrating their past but also laying the foundation for the next chapter, determined to protect their legacy while building for the future.
