Gomba Ssaza Team have brought back one of their own, appointing Felix Kawooya Ssekabuuza as head coach.
For Ssekabuuza, it’s a return home. He previously handled Gomba in 2023, served as head of technical in 2020, and worked as an assistant coach before that.
Now he returns with a stronger profile and bigger expectations.
He joins from Buweekula Ssaza Team, where he enjoyed two impressive seasons. He guided them to their first-ever Buganda Masaza Cup title in 2025 and a third-place finish in 2024.
There had been interest from Ssingo Ssaza Team, but Gomba moved quickly to secure his signature.
Ssekabuuza has also worked with Ssingo as an assistant, had a stint at Busiro Ssaza Team, and found success in schools football, leading St Julian to the 2024 USSSA national title.
He recently guided Football Classroom to the Uganda Cup round of 32.
Gomba will hope his return sparks a revival. The five-time champions last won the Masaza Cup in 2020 and failed to go past the group stage last season.
