With just days to kickoff, Uganda U17 head coach Brian Ssenyondo has named his final 21-man squad for the upcoming FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar, marking a moment, the first-ever World Cup appearance by any Ugandan football team.
The announcement comes four days before the global showpiece begins, capping months of preparation, trials, and international build-ups.
Ssenyondo’s selection blends top academy and school talents from across the country three goalkeepers, five defenders, seven midfielders, and six forwards, each eager to write their names in Uganda’s football history.
The Cubs began their journey with a rigorous training camp in Uganda, featuring friendlies against KCCA FC, Amus College, and other select sides.
They later flew to Dubai for a 10-day camp focused on tactical sharpening and team bonding.
While there, Uganda played three international friendlies, drawing with Venezuela and Panama, and narrowly losing to Paraguay, performances that gave the technical team confidence ahead of the tournament.
Uganda has been drawn in Group K alongside Canada, Chile, and France, setting up a thrilling debut challenge. The Cubs will open their campaign on November 5, 2025, against Canada, before facing Chile and France in their remaining fixtures.
