Emerald continued their dominant run in the MAXX campaign, securing their fourth win with a convincing seven-wicket victory over Gold on a cool Wednesday morning at the Lugogo Indoor Arena.

Batting first, Gold put up a respectable 164/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Oscar Manishimwe led the charge with an unbeaten 62 off 45 balls, while Wasim Butt contributed 30 off 21 and Brian Masaba added a quick 38 off 25.

Despite their efforts, Emerald’s bowlers, led by Jonathan Kiiza (2/41) and Pascal Murungi (1/24), managed to keep Gold from running away with the game.

In response, Emerald showcased a clinical chase, reaching 165/3 in 18.1 overs. Captain Simon Ssesazi set the tone with a fluent 56 off 38 balls, smashing five fours and three sixes.

After his dismissal, Ronald Lutaaya took charge, blasting an unbeaten 55 off just 30 deliveries, supported by Irfan Karim (17*), ensuring a comfortable finish.

Despite Steven Wabwose’s two wickets, Gold’s bowling attack failed to contain Emerald’s firepower.

With this win, Emerald strengthens its grip at the top and will now face Sapphire on Thursday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Gold will look to bounce back when they take on Ruby in the morning.
