Ssingo FC and Buweekula FC have both qualified for the Masaza Cup Quarterfinals, following their comfortable wins in the latest round of matches.
Ssingo defeated Kyaggwe 2-0 with goals from Elvis Ssekajugo and Shaban Kayongo. Ssekajugo, who was named man of the match for the second consecutive game, scored a stunning header, while captain Kayongo secured the victory. The win solidifies Ssingo’s position at the top of the group and ends Kyaggwe’s unbeaten run.
Meanwhile, Buweekula also secured their spot in the quarterfinals with a 2-1 victory over Buvuma. The win took Buweekula to 19 points after nine games, making them group winners.
The battle for the final qualifying spots remains fierce. Kyadondo’s chances to advance have improved after their 2-1 victory over Bulemeezi and Mawokota’s 3-0 win over Bugerere. This result puts Bugerere, Kyadondo, and Kooki in a close race, each with a chance to secure the last spot as the best runner-up.
In the final games of the Masengere group, Buweekula will host Kyadondo at Mubende NTC in a must-win game for the visitors, while Bugerere faces Bulemeezi.
Elsewhere, Buluuli was held t a goalless draw by Busiro at Migyera St. Lawrence. The result left the Bulange group wide open with the top two teams yet to be decided.
In the race for the golden boot, Buweekula’s Jimmy Kalema found the net for his seventh goal of the campaign and created a gap of two goals from his closest challengers, Enock Ssekatawa of Kyadondo, Lauben Lubwama of Busujju, and Andrew Mukasa of Ssese.
