Two-time Buganda Masaza Cup champions Ssingo Ssaza FC have captured the signature of striker Jerome Kalyesubula, 20.

The striker born on 17 July 2004 currently plays for Kiboga District’s fourth division league leader, Bamusuuta SC, where he leads the league scoring chart with 17 goals in 9 games.

Kalyesubula started playing serious football in the 2022-23 season at Buganda Regional League club Kiboga United, where he netted 14 goals while finishing second behind Samuel Ssemugugu.

The following season, Uganda Wildlife Authority (Simba FC) signed him to replace Ssemugugu who was moving to Big League side Lugazi FC, but the move didn’t go as planned when the forward fell sick, ending up not playing for the entire 2023-24 season.

After the disappointing experience, UWA decided to release him, and he chose to return to his boyhood club, Bamusuuta, to rebuild his career.

“I thank God that I am fully back to my levels now; I am again ready for new challenges. Last season was a nightmare for me, spending the entire season without playing a single game.”

As Buganda continues to celebrate the Kabaka’s 70 years of age, Ssingo will be looking for the third Masaza Cup trophy, having won it in 2015 and 2018.
