After sacking Issa Ssempijja and Emmy Kisakye, FUFA Women Super League side Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC are in negotiations to appoint four coaches to strengthen their technical team.
Edward Kasozi Ssozi who was the head coach last season as Uganda Martyrs won the FUFA Women’s Cup has already agreed personal terms to rejoin the club in the same capacity.
Former Kampala Queens first assistant coach Shafic Mutebi who recently completed his CAF B coaching course, is in advanced stages of joining the Lubaga based side as well.
It should be noted, that coach Shafic Mutebi has a good working relationship with Uganda Martyrs’ junior team which he supported with some players from his academy.
Former Kampala Queens goalkeeping coach Sowedi Kawooya and former Ajax Queens coach Andrew Ssetuba are also set to join and strengthen the coaching staff of Uganda Martyrs Lubaga Women FC.
The 2023 FUFA Women’s Cup champions collected only 12 points from the 9 league games they played in the first round of the current season, and finished sixth on the table.
Uganda Martyrs believes that they can retain the FUFA Women’s Cup and also compete for the title and that’s why they decided to sack Ssempijja and Kisakye to appoint other four coaches to strengthen the team.
The second round of the FUFA Women Super League will kick off on 10th February, and Uganda Martyrs will host rivals Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC in Lubaga.
