St. Lawrence University (SLAU) secured a crucial 3-1 victory over YMCA Institute at Kavule on Wednesday evening, avenging their earlier 2-0 defeat and climbing to the top of Group C in the University Football League.

Ziraba Ronnie opened the scoring in the 18th minute, finishing off a Kalanda through ball.

SLAU continued to dominate, and just two minutes into the second half, Innocent Matege doubled their advantage.

YMCA responded in the 64th minute through David Ochwo, who converted a cross from Lugyya Ashiraf to keep his side in the contest.

However, SLAU sealed the victory in the 90th minute when Mugerwa Lawrence powered in a header from a Matege corner, restoring the two-goal cushion.

With this result, SLAU now leads Group C with seven points from four matches, two ahead of second-placed YMCA.

The league action continues as Kampala University faces Gulu at Luzira Prison Grounds on Thursday.
