St Mary’s Boarding School Kitende continued its dominance of the FEASSA games Netball championship after beating rival Buddu by a whopping 16-goal difference in an all-Uganda final played in Kakamega, Kenya.
In the final played on Thursday, August 21, Kitende won 46-30 to bag their 20th trophy in 22 editions of the Netball Championship of the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Association’s games.
Kitende’s remarkable dominance has only been briefly interrupted. Only two other schools have ever won the championship: Gombe Secondary School, the inaugural winner, and St Noa Girls Zana.
St Noa famously broke Kitende’s 15-year winning streak in 2018. However, Kitende has since reclaimed its top position, winning the last four consecutive editions in 2019, 2023, 2024, and now 2025.
Coached by Noordine Kato, Kitende on court were inspired by the return of captain Joan Ryekoboth, who had missed the National finals in Tororo.
In the bronze medal match, St Noa Girls Zana secured a 56-44 victory over debutant Hamdan Islamic, ensuring a clean sweep of the top four spots for Ugandan schools at the tournament.
