Burega guided her team to two wins and two draws in five matches, while Namataka impressed with two goals and four assists, to finish ahead of Arach Phiona of Rines and goal keper Daisy Nakaziro of Kampala Queens.

For the best coach accolade, Burega beat off competition from Rines WFC coach, Nyanzi Bright Tadeo and Ocuka Simon Peter of She Maroons FC.

“I feel happy for this award,” said Burega. “I thank Finance Trust Bank for putting up such awards because they motivate players and coaches. With these awards, I see that there is light in women’s football in Uganda.”

Elite League awards

In the Elite League, St. Noa’s coach Jimmy Kintu was named the best coach after leading his team to an undefeated record in November. To win he had to overcome stiff competition from Asubo Ladies’ Swaleh Kamya. Shivan Ashaba of She Geme WFC was recognized as the best player in the division.

Annet Kigundu, Executive Director of Finance Trust Bank, emphasized the bank’s commitment to supporting women’s football.

“As a bank, this is a moment of emphasizing our commitment for this partnership,” she said. “We are strongly pursuing this cause of uplifting women… On the side of the bank, we’re just reaffirming our commitment and making that everyone out there should help to lift the other above.”

Each winner from the Super League received a cash prize of 500,000 Ugandan Shillings, while Elite League winners received 250,000 Ugandan Shillings.
