St Noa Girls School Zzana of Uganda defeated France 3-0 in the quarter-finals of the 2023 ISF World Schools’ Football tournament in Rabat, Morocco on Wednesday, July 26.
Lady Doves forward Joweria Nagadya scored a brace and Miriam Ayoo added one to put St Noa in a comfortable lead in the first half.
France’s best chance of the game came in the second half, but St Noa goalkeeper Nakirya saved a one-on-one opportunity to preserve the clean sheet.
The win helped St Noa to advance to the semi-finals, where they will face China 2 on Thursday. The other semi-final will be between China 1 and Germany.
In the other girls’ quarter-finals, Germany eliminated Mali 4-3 in post-match penalties after a goalless draw in normal time.
China team 2 overcame England 3-2, and China team 1 edged Brazil 4-3 in post-match penalties after another goalless draw.
Meanwhile, Uganda’s other representatives Amus College overcame England 3-0 in a classification duel, while Kibuli lost 2-1 to Nigeria.
The semi-finals for the boys’ tournament will see France take on Croatia, and Morocco face Saudi Arabia 2.
