Reigning national and FEASSA champions St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana showed once again why they are the benchmark in schools’ girls’ football, defending the USSSA Elite Games title after edging rivals Kawempe Muslim Secondary School 5–4 in a tense penalty shootout.

The four-day tournament, held at Janan Secondary School from February 26 to March 1, built up to a gripping final played before a lively crowd.

The match ended 0–0 after regulation time, with both sides cancelling each other out in a tight tactical battle.

Penalties decided it and St. Noa kept their composure. The turning point came when Belindah Nabawanuka missed Kawempe’s crucial kick.

St. Noa made no mistakes. Angel Dominic, Martha Babirye, Patricia Nayiga, Rebecca Nyakake and Evelyn Katusiime all converted to seal back to back titles and a third Elite Games crown overall.

St. Noa had signaled their intent earlier, beating Sheema Girls 2–0 in the semi-finals through goals from Marion Serenge and Evelyne Katusiime.

Kawempe’s run to the final was just as strong. They thrashed Uganda Martyrs in the semi-finals, inspired by four goals from Agnes Nabukenya, with Cynthia Kirenga also on target.

Despite the final heartbreak, Nabukenya’s 11 goals in 11 matches earned her the golden boot. But most individual honours went to the champions.

Patricia Nayiga was named Most Valuable Player, while goalkeeper Lillian Nakirya claimed the best goalkeeper award.

  • Most Valuable Player (MVP) – Patricia Nayiga
  • Best goalkeeper – Lillian Nakirya
  • Top Scorer- Agnes Nabukenya.
