The ongoing Stanbic Uganda Cup continues to deliver thrilling football moments, but rescheduling has become necessary due to national team obligations.
Matches involving SC Villa and KCCA FC were delayed as several players from both clubs joined the Uganda Cranes squad preparing for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Rescheduled Fixtures
Seeta United vs. SC Villa
SC Villa will now face Seeta United on Thursday, January 23 at the Seeta Church of Uganda Primary School ground.
With nine Uganda Cup titles under their belt, Villa will be eager to keep their silverware hopes alive as their Uganda Premier League (UPL) title chances fade.
403 Brigade vs KCCA FC
On Friday, January 24, KCCA FC will visit non-league side 403 Brigade at St. Daniel Comboni Secondary School in Napak.
KCCA, the most successful club in Uganda Cup history with 10 titles, will look to assert their dominance and make another deep run in the competition.
Kisoro Young Simba vs. Kataka
This fixture has also been moved to Thursday, January 23, from the originally scheduled Saturday, January 25.
With the UPL title seemingly running away from both SC Villa and KCCA FC, the Stanbic Uganda Cup represents a crucial opportunity to secure silverware this season.
For SC Villa, a win would bring them closer to catching up with KCCA’s record, while KCCA will aim to extend their lead as the most decorated team in the tournament’s history.
So far, only one UPL team, Mbale Heroes, has been eliminated from the competition. The continued presence of top-tier clubs sets the stage for intense battles as the tournament progresses.
The 51st edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup, also sponsored by Plascon Uganda, is not just about trophies, it’s a platform for nurturing young talent.
By showcasing their skills, upcoming players have the chance to gain recognition and secure meaningful careers in football.
As the rescheduled games kick-off, all eyes will be on SC Villa and KCCA FC to see how they navigate the challenges ahead.
