Stars shine bright at PAU Awards Night

Uganda’s top pool players, clubs, and fans gathered at Kati Kati Restaurant in Lugogo on Saturday night for the Pool Association of Uganda (PAU) annual awards night, a celebration of champions, rising stars, and the sport’s steady growth.

The evening wasn’t just about trophies. PAU Chairman Bob Trubish shared key updates, announcing that the 2025 National Open will launch on August 11, with the Grand Finale set for December. “We’re preparing for one of the most competitive editions yet,” he said, drawing cheers.

Kisakye Marion of Skin Samona was named Ladies League MVP after guiding her team to a second-place finish with cool-headed performances and pinpoint shots.

In the men’s category, all eyes were on Ssejjemba Ibra, known as The Killer. He led Roxberry to the league title with 82 goals and sharp leadership, earning him the Men’s League MVP award.

The top-performing clubs didn’t leave empty-handed. Along with a UGX 3 million facilitation for all participating teams, leading clubs earned additional prize money.

Men’s League Payouts:

• Roxberry – UGX 9 million

• Upper Volta – UGX 7 million

• Scrapbuyers – UGX 5.5 million

• Greater Mukono – UGX 4.5 million

• Adis PC – UGX 3.8 million

• Sinkers – UGX 3.5 million

Ladies League Payouts:

• Mukono PC – UGX 7 million

• Skin Samona – UGX 6 million

• Bob Male – UGX 5 million

• Silver Back – UGX 4.5 million

• She Sinkers – UGX 4 million

• Akaanya PC – UGX 3.8 million

• Genesis PC – UGX 3 million

These rewards showed PAU’s continued support for club development and league competitiveness.

The ceremony also honored Uganda’s medalists at the Commonwealth Billiards Games in Mauritius. The athletes received cash awards for their stellar performances and for raising the national flag on the global stage.
