It gets tighter and more competitive in Jinja as teams fight to ensure they attain the points that will see them play in the Main Cup playoffs on Day 2.

Defending Champions and hosts Jinja Hippos suffered their first series defeat, at the hands of the Walukuba Barbarians in a tightly contested Jinja derby.

Captain Yasin Waiswa steered the Hippos forward before gifting Aziz Bagalana the try, to send Hippos into a 7-0 Half Time lead. Right out of the break, Barbarians were on the prowl and were rewarded out wide thanks to Ivan Bulima. More resolute defending saw the team convert defense into attack to send Edward Emiemu over in the same corner as Bulima earlier, ensuring a 10-07 win for the Barbarians.

The Stanbic Black Pirates rallied back to survive a scare against the Rhinos to win 21-17. The Pirates went down 17-00 at half time but the experience of Kisiga came to their rescue in the second half when he crossed twice, alongside Jones Kamiza to grab their second win of the weekend.

The Heathens and KOBs maintain perfect records winning 38-00 and 40-00 respectively, with the Buffaloes, Impis and Mongers also registering their second wins of the day.
