The first edition of the 2023 National Sevens, Stone City 7s, comes down to the wire as KOBs battle Pirates.

Faraji Odugo broke Heathens’ hearts at the death to send the 2021 Champions to the finale. KOBs came from behind to win 15-12. Aaron Ofoywroth put Heathens ahead before Mark Osuna drew the KOBs within two with an unconverted try. Norbert Okeny looked to have sealed it for Heathens but a late Odugo try put the KOBs in the finale.

Pirates dominated an ill-disciplined Impis with Timothy Kisiga crossing the whitewash first. Arnold Atukunda’s brilliance was next on the show as he finished two beautiful tries before Alex Aturinda put the icing on the cake. Pius Mpoza grabbed a consolation score for the Impis which was converted by Henry Nsekuye.

The Lady Cranes came back from 10-00 to beat Avengers 14-10, to set up a meet with their academy team who piled a beating on the hapless Thunderbirds.
