Swans Sports Club has announced a change in dates for its annual Beach Touch Rugby tournament. The event, originally scheduled for September 28th, has been moved to September 21st.
The decision was made to accommodate the local rugby community, as the initial date conflicted with the National Rugby 7s series circuit in Mbarara and the Uganda Vets return game in Kenya. The new date ensures that rugby fans and players can fully participate without any scheduling conflicts.
Beyond the competitive aspect, the tournament aims to raise awareness about breast cancer. The event will offer free screening services to attendees.
“We believe that using sports in a fun and engaging environment can encourage more people to get screened for cancer,” said Regina Lunyolo, Director of Swans Sports Club. “Early detection, diagnosis, and treatment are crucial in the fight against this disease.”
The second edition of the Beach Touch Rugby tournament is set to take place at Aero Beach in Entebbe. Teams interested in participating can still register.
