Swans Sports Club, under the Beach Touch Rugby Fun Festival and Tournament, have taken the fight against breast cancer to the beach.

The Beach Touch Rugby Fun Festival and Tournament is set to take place on the scenic shores of Coco Beach Entebbe on the 30th of September, 2023.

Guided by the legacy program – “Teach them young to live healthy, enjoyable lifestyles,” the tournament will feature 6 schools, each raising a 6-A-Side team.

To increase competitiveness and inclusivity, each team will be allowed a maximum of 2 senior players, both male and female, and a minimum of 3 female players will be required in each team, fostering a balanced and diverse playing field.

“We are delighted to host the Beach Touch Rugby Fun Festival and Tournament in support of breast cancer awareness,” said Regina Lunyolo, the head organiser of the event.

“By combining the love for rugby with a vital cause, we hope to unite the community and create lasting connections while raising awareness about breast cancer and the significance of early detection.”

In its purest form, rugby is a sport of fun, education and wellness. Owing to this, this tournament shall serve as a platform to educate and engage the community on the importance of early detection and support for those affected by breast cancer.

About The Breast Cancer Awareness Tournament

The main goal is to promote social interaction through touch rugby among the community in a fun-filled environment while addressing societal challenges.

As we kick start the cancer awareness month of October, we believe the Beach Touch Rugby festival will be the ideal opener.

Our goal is to raise awareness of breast cancer signs and symptoms through education and improve breast screening services’ uptake rates by encouraging healthier lifestyles.
