Sword on the neck: Uganda Martyrs to face Bishop Cyprian Kihangire in Group B decider

With Buziga Islamic and Technical Institute already having made it to the quarterfinals, Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga is on edge, needing to progress or remain in the group as they face Bishop Cyprian Kihangire in a decider at Kibuli SS ground.

With three teams remaining in contention to join Buziga, Group A becomes the most challenging in USSSA Kampala Region. Uganda Martyrs is in second place with Caltech Academy on 4 points, while Kololo SS and Bishop Kihangire are also tied on 3 points.

The Rubaga-based school, under Coach John Oscar, was shocked in their opener, which they lost 1-0 to Buziga, drew 1-1 with Caltec Academy, before registering their only win so far over Kololo SS 2-0.

Going into the final game of the group, only Caltec Academy is out of the race to the quarterfinals, as Kololo SS also aims for a win over group leaders Buziga at Hamz Stadium Nakivubo, which can take them to 6 points, and they can qualify if they win with a good goal difference in case Rubaga and Kihangire draw.

In this situation, Uganda Martyrs is somehow in a better position to come second to Buziga, as they only need to win and secure a place at the knockout stage.

However, a win for Bishop Cyprian Kihangire may also be enough if they end up with a better goal difference after the final group game.
