In the Buganda Regional 3rd Division League, week 19, seven fixtures will take place across Buganda, with the battle for safety expected to spark the highest tension over the weekend.
All the fixtures are scheduled on Saturday, March 21, with the key fixture hoped to be between Nantabulirwa FC and Synergy FC at St. Balikudembe Primary School, with the visitors looking to extend the gap from the red line.
The fixture finds both teams in a dilemma, tied on 18 points, with the hosts sitting 13th while the visitors are 14th, and the red line between them. The only difference between the two teams is the goals scored, with Synergy at 18, which is 3 more than their host.
Under Ephine Kato, Synergy FC would like their patterns to click, essentially relying on the performance of Mike Katumwa, the current team top scorer with 7 goals in just 9 games, after overcoming different issues that have been keeping him on the sideline during half of the games played so far.
With Katumwa leading the team forward, midfield duo Gideon Musasizi and captain Godfrey Sanja are also expected to keep the team in game’s control by creating the rhythm.
As they look forward to finding the impression and game control, at the bottom of their system, center back Keith Yiga and left-hand partner Benon Magende will also carry the big task of keeping the side in the game defensively.
Besides the hoped-for most competitive fixture of week 19, Kiboga United will host Seete United at the Kiboga Ssaza ground. Kiboga United is sitting 10 points below the drop zone safety as they are still trying to forge things to work out.
In their attempt, they will continue to put more emphasis on their top players in Jjemba Jjimy and Juma Rashid who scored their only goal when they lost 3-1 to Seeta United in the first round played in Mukono.
With Juma Rashid being the leading scorer for the host team with 6 goals, Owen Mawejje is taking the lead for Seeta United with 10 goals, more than half of the goals they have scored, putting them in 10th position with just 4 points away from the drop zone.
Again, on the bottom end, Buikwe Red Star, with very minimal chances to survive, will host another relegation-threatened side, Manyangwa FC, which is two points above the red line at Buikwe Ground.
Buikwe Red Star, at the bottom, has just 4 points from 18 games, which is 15 points off the safe zone. Manyangwa FC has 20 from 18 games in 11th position.
On the other side of the promotion challenge, Buwambo FC at home will seek to take advantage of Simba FC being at rest. At Buwambo ground, the league leaders will have a chance to extend their lead to 4 or 5 points as they host the in-form UG Sports Arena.
Another team in the promotion contest, Young Simba FC, will travel to Wobulenzi United, but with league top scorer Derrick Talemwa, who has 18 goals in just 12 games, his features in playing away from home may ease the task for them as they aim to rise to second place.
In third place, they are counting 38 points, which is just 1 point behind second-placed Simba FC, who is not in action because of Super Eagles Lugongwe’s expulsion from the league, and just two behind leader Buwambo FC.
Elsewhere, Kira United at Kira ground will host Nyando FC while Kajjansi United at Mwererwe ground will welcome Masaka City who intend to keep the promotional hope alive.
