Home Cricket T20 World Cup: Cricket Cranes Ramjani Honored with ICC Red Cap

Uganda’s Cricket Cranes are not only celebrating their historic qualification for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup but also a significant individual honour.

All-rounder Alpesh Ramjani has been awarded the prestigious ICC Men’s T20I Team of the Year red cap for his stellar
performances in 2023.

Ramjani received his ICC Men’s T20I Team of the Year cap during a brief ceremony at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.

Captain Brian Masaba demonstrated humility by inviting senior player Ronak Patel to present the cap, recognizing Patel’s mentorship and influence on the team.

“Getting this Cap from Ronak Bhai (brother) is of great significance. He (Ronak) told me ICC doesn’t just give out Caps for free. You worked hard for this, guided us to the World Cup, and earned it. Now go on and do it again this year,” Ramjani noted.

Ramjani, a left-handed all-rounder, scored 449 runs at a strike rate of 132.44 in 20 innings of 30 T20I matches. He also took 55 wickets, the highest tally in T20Is worldwide, with an economy of 4.77.

He was shortlisted for the 2023 ICC T20I Player of the Year alongside New Zealand’s Mark Chapman, India’s Suryakumar Yadav, and Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza.
