Team Uganda has arrived safely in Bujumbura, Burundi, ahead of the CAVB Zone V Beach Volleyball Championship set for October 23–25, 2025, at Eden Garden Resort.

Led by men’s captain Innocent Ayo and women’s captain Peace Busingye, the Ugandan contingent checked in on Wednesday, October 22, for the technical meeting before official play begins on Thursday.

The team is expected to return home on October 26 after the three-day competition.

Uganda joins Burundi, Egypt, Kenya, and Sudan for the opening leg of the Zone V Beach Volleyball Tour, which will continue in Uganda, Tanzania, and Kenya in 2026.

The Bujumbura leg comes with a USD 3,000 prize purse, adding extra motivation for all teams.

Speaking after arrival, captain Innocent Ayo said the team is in high spirits and ready to compete.

“We just arrived from Kampala safely, we feel good and ready for the tournament,” Ayo said.

“The prize money is a great motivation, and we’re going to give our best to make Uganda proud.”

The Zone V Championship serves as a key regional event that not only crowns the best in East and Central Africa but also prepares teams for upcoming continental qualifiers.
