Uganda’s three member team put on a strong show at the East African Archery Championship, a one-day event at Strathmore University in Nairobi featuring archers from Kenya and Mauritius.

The three athletes, two in Hamza Ndiwalana and
Moreen Awor were from Titans Archery Club and Jonathan Byamukama from Makerere Archery Club

Ndiwalana led the way with 404 points over 72 arrows to win silver in the Barebow 30 category, finishing just behind Kenya’s William Shamir. His accuracy in both 30-meter rounds underlined Uganda’s growing skill in the sport.

Byamukama scored 261 in the Recurve Men’s division, while Awor posted 234 in Barebow-Unique, both gaining valuable international experience against a tough Kenyan field.

Kenya dominated overall. Shamir took gold in Barebow 30, Kairu Sonia earned bronze, Anwar Shehzana Kuki won women’s recurve gold with 558 points, and Muthee Godfrey Njuguna captured recurve men’s gold.

The meet doubled as the Kenya Archery Nationals and 2025 Team Qualifier, giving Uganda a high-level test.
