Uganda’s swimming team made history at the 2022 CANA Zone IV Swimming Championship, held at the Lusaka Olympic swimming pool in Zambia.


The team, led by siblings Olympian Kirabo Namutebi and brother Tendo Mukalazi, won a total of 21 medals, including 8 golds, 7 silvers, and 6 bronzes.



Kirabo Namutebi was the star of the show, winning 3 gold medals and 1 silver medal. Her brother Tendo Mukalazi also had a strong showing, winning 2 gold medals and 1 silver medal.


Other members of the Ugandan team who won medals include Eng. Peter Ssebanakitta (2 golds, 1 silver) and Godfrey Kiiza (1 gold, 1 bronze).



The Ugandan team’s performance at the CANA Zone IV Swimming Championship is a major breakthrough for swimming in Uganda.


It is the first time that the country has won more than 10 medals at the competition, and it is a sign that Ugandan swimming is on the rise.
