As the dust settles on the Uganda Rugby Premiership regular season, the stage is now set for an intense playoff battle that will determine this year’s champion.
After months of grueling competition, eight clubs have emerged at the top, securing their spots in the knockout phase. Now, with the quarterfinal fixtures revealed, the countdown to the grand final on May 10th has begun.
The teams vying for the championship include Black Pirates, KOBs, Jinja Hippos, Heathens, Victoria Sharks, Rhinos, Buffaloes and Walukuba Barbarians
Each of these clubs has fought hard to reach this stage, but the real challenge begins now. With the knockout format in play, one mistake could mean the end of a team’s championship dreams.
The quarterfinals will be played on a home and away basis, meaning each team will get a chance to prove themselves over two legs.
The first leg kicks off on Friday, April 4th, and Saturday, April 5th, setting the tone for what promises to be a thrilling month of rugby.

Saturday, April 5th
- Rhinos Vs Jinja Hippos – Legends | 3 PM
- Walukuba Barbarians Vs Black Pirates – Abel Dhaira Grounds | 4 PM
- Buffaloes Vs KOBs – Kyadondo | 4 PM
The return legs will be played a week later, on Saturday, April 12th, with aggregate scores determining which teams move on to the semifinals.
The playoff bracket has been structured to create a thrilling road to the championship:
The winner between Victoria Sharks and Heathens will face the winner between Walukuba Barbarians and Black Pirates in the semifinals.
The winner between Buffaloes and KOBs will take on the winner between Rhinos and Jinja Hippos on the other side of the bracket.
The semifinals will follow the same home and away format, with the first leg taking place on April 26th and the second leg on May 3rd.
After these battles, only two teams will remain, setting up a high-stakes final on May 10th.
