Uganda Rugby Union, on Tuesday morning, announced the men’s and women’s teams to represent the country in the upcoming Safari 7s.

The Lady Cranes will be one of five ladies’ teams to compete in this year’s edition, alongside the UK-based Tropic 7s and three home-based teams in Tuks Women, Kenya Lionesses 1 and 2.

In 2022, Uganda claimed the bronze medal and will look to have an even better outing this year.

Save for Gloria Ayot and Grace Auma, who are away with injuries; the squad remains the same as the one in Tunisia last month for the Rugby Africa Women’s Sevens.

Debutantes Kisubi Lady Pacers’ Kuteesa Gertrude Junior and Nile Rapids’ Namulala Unity replaced the two injured stars.

The Lady Cranes 7s side were bronze medallists in Tunisia after defeating Zambia 29-10 in the third-place playoff.

Owing to the third-place finish at the Rugby Africa Women’s Sevens, Uganda qualified for the repechage alongside Kenya to represent Africa, trying to punch their ticket to the Paris Olympics.
