In a resolute move to curb hooliganism in Ugandan football, the FUFA Disciplinary Panel (FDP) has slapped a two-year ban on three Express FC fans for their involvement in assaulting assistant referee Fahad Sekayiba.

The incident occured shortly after the Uganda Premier League match between UDPF FC and Express FC on October 27, 2023, at Bombo Military Barracks Grounds.

The decision, reached in accordance with FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary code 13(1), 13(3), 14(16), 14(17), and 14(18), was taken following a thorough investigation that commended Express FC for their cooperation in identifying the perpetrators – Mukenya Noah, Zimula Sulaiman, and Nkata Abasi.

“Mukenya Noah, Zimula Sulaiman, and Nkata Abasi are hereby declared persona non grata for a period of two (2) years from all football competitions authorized and/or organized by FUFA.”

“They are prohibited from taking part in any football activities in any capacity whatsoever for a period of two years,” reads the official statement.

In addition to the fan ban, Express FC has been instructed to prominently display clear pictures of the identified perpetrators on all their digital media platforms and at their home stadium for the duration of the ban.

The club is also mandated to fully cooperate with any authority investigating the incident and ensure the implementation of the FDP’s decision.

It is hoped that this decisive action by FUFA will deter similar incidents in the future and promote a safe and enjoyable environment for all football fans.
