It is a purely sad end to a glittering career as Police suffered relegation in their 5-2 loss to BUL FC on Saturday at the Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

Mawejje kickstarted his career at Masaka Local Council Football Club (2003) before he went to KCCA FC (2004-2005), Police (2006-2007) and URA in 2008 to 2009.

He then went professional at IBV in Iceland where he spent four years(2009-2013).

He also played at South Africa’s Golden Arrows on loan in 2012 and had short stints in Norway, Albania and Kuwait before returning to feature for Police in 2020.

At the national team, he featured between 2004-2017, impressing in the colours, which included taking back Uganda to the 2017 AFCON, after 39 years.

He played 84 competitive matches with the Uganda Cranes.
