  • Tornado Bees won by 9 wickets

The Kamengo Cricket Oval witnessed a commanding performance on Sunday as Tornado Bees Cricket Club sealed their first victory in the UCA Men’s 50 Over League, dismantling Wanderers CC by 9 wickets in a one-sided encounter.

Asked to bat, Wanderers CC stumbled out of the gate and never quite recovered. Opener Suleman Sharif fell for a duck in the opening over, bowled by Sohaib Ehsan. Hitesh Prajapti soon followed with just a single to his name, leaving Wanderers reeling at 2/6.

A brief spark came from Raheel Sarwal, who struck a quick 27 off 32 balls with four boundaries and a six, but his dismissal marked the beginning of a downward spiral. Munir Ismail and Aziz Abdul Tandia ripped through the middle order with precision, claiming two and three wickets respectively while Jonathan Ssebanja contributed with two more to further tighten the screws.

Despite some resistance from Jaffer Ochaya (19) and Abdul Basit Habib (20), Wanderers collapsed to 122 all out in just 29.3 overs. Extras were ironically the second-highest contributor, adding 22 to the total.

In the chase, Tornado Bees made light work of the chase. Though they lost opener Nicholas Kebba for 17, caught behind off Jaffer Ochaya, the pair of Olipa Gerald and Anas Baig made sure there were no further hiccups.

Olipa anchored the innings with a composed 50 not out off 54 deliveries, including five boundaries and two sixes. At the other end, Anas Baig brought flair and aggression, smashing 42 runs off just 24 balls at a blistering strike rate of 175.00.

The duo took Tornado Bees to 123/1 in just 16.3 overs, sealing a dominant 9-wicket win and announcing their arrival in the league with flair.

This is their maiden win of the current season after losing Aboojo CC on Matchday One by a 4-wicket win.

Elsewhere in the UCA Men’s 50 Over League, Kutchi Tigers edged out Avengers CC by 10 runs in a tightly contested match, while in Division 2, GM Sugar registered a 4-wicket win over Ismaili Community CC.
