Uganda Rugby 7s fraternity registered yet another milestone as they welcomed Total Energies EP Uganda to their dinning table.
The two-year sponsorship package will see the oil company contribute Uganda shillings 57 million towards activities of the National Women and Men’s rugby 7’s team.
The monies will help out in areas such as advertising, hospitality, training and training gear, among others.
Speaking during the press conference held at Kyadondo Rugby Club on Wednesday morning, Philippe Groueix, the General Manager TotalEnergies EP Uganda said.
“It is an honour and pleasure for Total Energies to sponsor rugby in Uganda. Rugby as a sport instills teamwork, discipline, passion and respect; values that lie at the heart of TotalEnergies operations.”
Groueix also added that the sponsorship reaffirms the company’s commitment to Youth Inclusion and Education as this partnership is an opportunity to teach the game and its values to youth around the country.
Mr. Godwin Kayangwe the President Uganda Rugby Union thanked TotalEnergies EP Uganda for the partnership.
He mentioned that the rugby game in Uganda has been progressing steadily and sponsorships such as the partnership with Total Energies EP Uganda accelerate the games’ national and international prowess.
“This money is going to go directly to the feeder sides of the two national teams as we want to have a sounding future through national team academies.
