A storm is brewing in Ugandan women’s football after Kampala Queens and Kawempe Muslim issued contradicting statements over the transfer of left-back Jolly Kobusinge.

On Thursday, August 21, Kampala Queens announced Kobusinge’s signing on a two-year deal, celebrating her as their “latest Queen.”

The former Tooro Queens defender and Crested Cranes regular was expected to bolster their backline ahead of the new season.

But just hours later, Kawempe Muslim hit back, insisting Kobusinge is still their player. In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the four-time league champions said no transfer or loan agreement had been approved or finalized with Kampala Queens.

The conflicting claims have sparked confusion among fans and raised doubts about the legality of the move. Kampala Queens have yet to respond, leaving Kobusinge’s future uncertain.

If unresolved, the saga could force FUFA to step in and determine whether proper transfer procedures were followed.

For now, Kobusinge finds herself caught in a tug-of-war between two of Uganda’s biggest women’s football powerhouses.
