Tugume, Opuuli guide Mengo City past QC Mbarara as chase for League title continues

Ian Tugume and Sharifu Opuuli scored in either half of the game to guide Mengo City to a 2-1 win over QC Mbarara, maintaining the 4-point gap behind leaders Park FC.

In the game played on Friday, 7th March 2025 at Old Kampala Futsal Arena, Tugume scored 5 minutes into the game and Opuuli extended the lead 3 minutes into the second half before Arafat Ssentongo found a consolation midway through the second half.

The win helped Mengo City extend their unbeaten run to 12 games since losing the opening game of the season to leaders Park FC who also won his game on the day, 5-2, against Kisugu FC.

In the continuing absence of league top scorer Abasi Muluya Junior, Jalil Zamula was the man to pull up the socks by bagging in a hat trick. He scored twice in the first half including the game’s opener and once in the second half.

Joshua Aziku and Alfred Ssebunya added one goal each while Umar Luswabi and Ahmed Miti Kayongo found consolations for Kisugu FC with victory taking Park FC to 34 points after the 13th round and a four-point advantage over Mengo City.

Meanwhile, Edgars Youth Programme secured a crucial win to move off the bottom of the table.

Kisenyi FC drew 2-2 with Kabowa Dream Team with ILyas Omran closing the gap on the top scorers’ table by finding his 20th to sit 2 goals behind Muluya. 

Crown Lubiri returned to winning ways, collecting a 4-2 victory over Kabuusu Clouds. Lubaga Grameen secured their third win of the season with an 8-3 thrashing of Busunju.

The Futsal Super League will return next Friday, 15th March with 6 games packaged in Matchday 14 at Old Kampala Futsal Arena.
