Cavendish University Uganda (CUU) and Kampala International University (KIU) have reached the finals of the Football Law Annual Moot (FLAM) Africa Edition, giving Uganda a strong presence on the continental stage.
The two universities advanced after a series of intense online submissions and presentations before international sports arbitrators, simulating proceedings at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
CUU is represented by Daniel Walusimbi and Twaha Morgan Kubiriza, while KIU fields Christine Nalubwama and George Ssenfuma.
They will face Nigeria’s Adekunle Ajasin University and University of Lagos in the finals, set for December in Abuja, Nigeria.
Founded by international sports lawyer Pius C. Ndubuokwo, FLAM is an arbitration-based competition designed to nurture Africa’s next generation of sports law experts, with a special focus on football.
This year’s theme “The Role of International Arbitral Tribunals in Maintaining Contractual Stability in Football” challenges participants to tackle complex legal issues shaping global football.
Out of 45 universities from across Africa, CUU and KIU’s qualification marks a major milestone for Uganda, highlighting the country’s growing influence in sports law.
Both institutions are now calling on stakeholders to support their preparations ahead of the continental finals.
