The Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) is continuing its efforts to bridge the gap between the sporting industry and the arts through corporate boxing events. Following the successful debut of Shakib Cham Lutaaya and JK Kazoora on October 12, 2024, a new bout featuring two prominent Ugandan artists is scheduled for November 9 at the Lugogo Indoor Arena.

Fauzia Nakiboneka and Laura Ndagire, both stage icons with the Ebonies, will face off in a highly anticipated corporate boxing match. At the launch event held on October 22, Nakiboneka issued a strong warning to her opponent, stating, “I am the empress, she is a princess. I am going to send her back to the palace. This is serious boxing.”

Ndagire responded to the challenge, acknowledging Nakiboneka’s talent but expressing her determination to win. “She is a very good person and a competitive queen of the stage and TV, but I will be the ring champion,” she said.

This female corporate boxing match marks a significant step towards promoting gender equality in the sport. UBF boss Moses Muhangi emphasized the importance of involving women in corporate boxing, stating, “When the public thinks that boxing is only for men, it is a good cause to have women involved. We are targeting as many women as possible to embrace boxing.”

Muhangi also called on individuals and organizations interested in organizing corporate boxing events to collaborate with the UBF.

“There is no one allowed to organize corporate boxing without the consent of the Uganda Boxing Federation,” he explained. “We are open to guiding those who are interested in organizing such events.”
