The boxing fraternity got a positive start in overcoming grudges that have existed for over 30 years between Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) and Uganda Professional Boxing Commission (UPBC).
Following the constitutional amendment which led to the new National Sports Act 2023 in replace of that of 1960, national sports bodies are learning how to fit into the new act.
Boxing was thought to be one of the most challenged Sports bodies but the meet held on Thursday 9th January 2025 likely changed the fortune of getting one boxing family since the introduction of professional Boxing in Uganda.

The meeting was held at Cooper Chimney in Lugogo at the National Council of Sports facility and some of the top leaders from either party were present despite the absence of UPBC leader Mayor Salim Unity.

The meeting which commenced an hour and a half late and chaired by Uganda Boxing Federation President Moses Muhangi became a yield platform towards the end of grudges that started in the early 90s.
UPBC treasure Maureen Mulangira made the most instrumental submission to the cause of unity.
“Dear members of the boxing fraternity, the law is already in place and it can’t be revoked, we only have to obey, we are here for the goodness of boxing in Uganda not for selfishness and our personal ego, the most important thing is to obey what government has embraced.”
That was the submission which made everyone understand the cause of the meeting and Mulangira became the key climax of the meeting with both parties leaving with the aim of becoming one under the Uganda Boxing Federation.
