Busoga College Mwiri produced a stunning all-round display to demolish St. James Secondary School by 198 runs in the UCA Boy’s Schools Cricket Week on Tuesday, thanks to a record-breaking century from Gerald Olipa in Fort Portal.

Opting to bat first, Mwiri set the tournament alight with a massive 253/4 in 20 overs. Olipa stole the show with an unbeaten 118 off just 42 balls, hammering 9 fours and 9 sixes at a blistering strike rate of 280.95. 

He was well-supported by Eric Mukisa (63) and Edgar Mudoola (41) as St. James’ bowlers struggled to contain the onslaught.

In reply, St. James crumbled to 55/8 in their 20 overs. Mukisa returned to shine with the ball, taking 3/8, while Kisubi Martin (2/6) and Okecho Jordan (1/7) tore through the top order. 

St. James collapsed early at 1/3 and never recovered, with only Kalulu Kenneth offering resistance with 13*.

With this emphatic win, Mwiri underlined their title credentials, dominating with both bat and ball.

St. John’s High School Kauga handed Ntare School a heavy defeat, bowling them out for 63 in 16.5 overs. Jackson Asiku (2/10), Sam Kizire (2/5), and Sudais Mpagi (2/12) led the damage. 

Despite Innocent Aijuka’s three early wickets, Robert Owili’s unbeaten 21 off 11 guided Kauga to a six-wicket win.

  • Mwiri continue dominance in rain-hit win

Later in the day, Mwiri overpowered Aga Khan High School in a rain-affected clash. Defending a revised target, they restricted Aga Khan to 46/9, with Olipa starring again, this time with 3/9.

Mwiri won by 77 runs (D/L).

  • Gulu high out shine in double header

Gulu High enjoyed a perfect day, crushing Rwenzori High by 141 runs after setting 156. 

Captain Daniel Pity claimed 4/7 as Rwenzori folded for just 15, the lowest score of the tournament. 

In the afternoon, Tonny Opiyo starred against Good Heart SS, taking 3/4 and scoring an unbeaten 20 in a 10-wicket win.

  • Masindi SS flex strength

Masindi SS secured back-to-back wins in Group B. They chased down 81 against Layibi College for a 5-wicket win before thrashing St. James SS by 102 runs. 

Ivan Nsiimire dominated with 44 off 27 and 5/14.

  • Jinja SSS mixed fortunes

Jinja SSS crushed Good Heart SS by 77 runs, thanks to Jonathan Nyiiro (49) and Caleb Owinya (3/4). Later, they fell to St. John’s Kauga in a rain-shortened game, restricted to 29/3 chasing 43.

  • Nyakasura, Sahajanand secure key wins

Nyakasura School bounced back by defeating Aga Khan HS by 9 wickets, with Ben Solomon Mulindwa (3/7) starring. Meanwhile, Shree Sahajanand School Uganda edged Kira College Butiki by 43 runs, driven by Divya Valani’s 3/9.
