Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) and Equity Bank Corporate League teams continue to have a grip on the top two spots on the Uganda Corporate League table.

As at the end of the third Corporate League outing, both UCDA and Equity are tied on 26 points, with UCDA holding onto the number one spot due to a much superior goal difference (19) against Equity’s (9) and the former also with a game in hand.

This stiffness of the competition was a welcome situation for the main sponsor Nile Special who promised lots of goodies to the teams such as Petroleum Authority of Uganda.

Also to note, outstanding individuals from the rest and also have their hat in the heat of the fight for league supremacy will be rewarded handsomely.

Battle for top 4

The fight in the top four gets even tighter as only three points separate first from fourth. Third-placed Post Bank (25 points) and fourth-placed Nile Breweries (23 points) are waiting patiently in the shadows for a slip-up from the top two teams, to jump ahead of them.

The top banks, Equity and Postbank, enjoyed huge wins on the third outing at Makerere University Main Sports Ground to keep themselves in the fight.

Equity won four games out of four, beating Inspecta 1-0, Wagagai 2-0, and Nile Breweries 3-0, before smashing 5 past ADRIS.

The other financial institute, Postbank registered two wins and a loss; losing 1-0 to Wagagai before putting 5 past PEBUU and annihilating Smash, 6-0.

Away from money to coffee, UCDA beat Smash 1-0, scored 3 past ADRIS, and piled more misery on PEBUU, beating them 4-0 before registering their only dent of the season so far, a 2-3 loss to Sipi.

It was a mixed outing for Nile Breweries who registered 2 wins and 2 losses i.e. a 1-0 loss to Postbank and a 3-0 loss to Equity, all teams in the top four.

The League sponsors managed to secure two victories; a 4-1 win against Sports Castle and 2-0 against the National Council of Sports (NCS).

The top dogs can be challenged by SCD Darling, SIP Frontier, Hotel Africana, and MK Sports Club, Ranchers Finest, Sable International, and Asante Waste Management.

The next game week of the games is set to happen on Sunday, 28th July 2024, and while Football will be taking center stage, there are a host of other games to include everyone.

The menu will have; Volley Ball, Netball, Swimming, Tug-of-War, Athletics, and a Kids section under the theme ‘As I Play, You Play’.
