Uganda Christian University (UCU) coach Collins Ahumuza admitted her side was not at their best as they were held to a 2-2 draw against Kumi University in the University Football League on Wednesday.

Ahumuza felt her team made a lot of errors and gave Kumi too much room to play.

“It was not easy to concede in the first half at home,” Ahumuza said. “It was not our best performance, but we managed to handle the pressure and take a point home.”

Stephen Nyalimo and Joshua Oosan put Kumi in front in the first half, but UCU fought back in the second half to score two goals through captain Geoffrey Gagganga and Isaac Ofoyirworth to level the score.

The draw means UCU has qualified for the semifinals of the University Football League with one game to spare.

They top Group D with 11 points, while Kumi is bottom with three points. Busitema and Kampala International University (KIU), who each have a game less, are on five and four points respectively.

Kumi coach John Opam was pleased with his team’s performance, even though they did not win the game.

“We came knowing it was not an easy game,” Opam said.

“We know the opponent would give us a challenge since we lost at home. We wanted to put out our best. We consider every game much important.”
