The UCU Lady Canons fought back from a slow start to defeat the Magic Stormers 60–53 in a tense National Basketball League (NBL) clash at the YMCA Court on Wednesday night.

After trailing 20–16 in the first quarter, UCU struggled to contain the Stormers’ early rhythm, driven by Gimbo Babra’s aggressive play and Daphine Adong’s dominance in the paint.

But the Lady Canons gradually settled in. A composed floater from Hajara Najjuko just before halftime cut the deficit to 30–29, sparking UCU’s turnaround.

They returned from the break with greater urgency and edged ahead 42–40 by the end of the third quarter.

Najjuko, who posted a game-high 15 points, led the charge, while Shillah Lamunu Aber added 11 points in support.

The Stormers made a final push, with Babra scoring 14 and Adong 10, but UCU held on with disciplined defense and controlled possessions down the stretch.

Other Women games on the evening saw JT Lady Jaguars dominate KIU Rangers 85-54 in Lugogo while JKL Dolphins stayed on their winning path with a 78-57 triumph over teenage dominated Nabisunsa at Abja Park in Naalya.
