FUFA Women Super League club, UCU Lady Cardinals, has implemented changes within their playing squad’s leadership.
Under coach Christian Magoba, the Mukono based side announced changes in the team’s captaincy naming Catherine Nakiridde as the team captain, taking over from Shadia Nankya.
Shadia Nankya had previously stepped in for the team’s legendary player, Hasifah Nassuna, who joined Kampala Queens last season.
Nicole Atimaku has been named as the first vice-captain and defender Peace Aloyo as the second vice-captain.
“I have relieved the head captain of her duties for reasons I won’t stress here. I believe in the new leaders because they have character.” Said coach Magoba
UCU Lady Cardinals eliminated Isra Soccer Academy in the FUFA Women’s cup after beating them 3-2 in the round of 32.
In the round of 16, UCU Lady Cardinals will visit 2019 champions Makerere University WFC this weekend.
In 2018, UCU won the FUFA Women’s Cup through goals by Mercy Nabulobi and Hasifah Nassuna in the 52nd and 83rd minutes respectively, to help the team beat She Corporate FC in the finals played at Kabwohe playground, Sheema district.
This season, UCU Lady Cardinals, are currently fourth in the FUFA Women Super League.
