2025/26 University Football League | SF First Leg | Thursday April 9
- Muteesa 1 Royal University 0-0 St Lawrence Universityย
There is still everything to fight for after Muteesa I Royal University and St Lawrence University settled for a goalless draw in the first leg of their University Football League semi-final in Masaka on Thursday.
Muteesa made the brighter start and threatened early through Busuulwa Patrick, but his effort was stopped by a timely challenge from Kamya Dickson. Ali Lutwama then tested goalkeeper Mohammed Kateete with a free kick, forcing a sharp save.
St Lawrence grew into the game as the half went on. Okello Ivan tried from distance but was denied by Muteesa goalkeeper Kayanja. Captain Ziraba Ronnie later set up another chance for Okello, but Busuulwa tracked back to clear.
The second half remained tight, with both teams creating chances but lacking the finish. Brian Rwothomio came close with a header that drifted just wide, while Katende Ericโs long-range strike was pushed away by Kateete.
Kayanja also stepped up for Muteesa, making a key save to deny Munanira when he looked set to score.
In the closing minutes, Agaku Vicent made an important interception to stop Busuulwa from grabbing a late winner. Even five minutes of added time could not produce a goal.
The tie now shifts to Kavule on Thursday, April 16, with a place in the final still up for grabs.
