Bishop Stuart University (BSU) continued their impressive run in the University Football League with a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Africa Renewal University on Thursday evening in Buloba.
The visitors struck twice in the opening 20 minutes and held off a spirited second-half comeback to claim all three points, a result that lifts them to second place in Group B with six points from three games.
The game started at a lively pace, with Africa Renewal’s Talemwa Mark making an early goal-line clearance in the fifth minute to deny BSU.
The hosts responded with chances from Kajubi and Agaba Aldo, but goalkeeper Mubogi stood firm.
BSU soon capitalized on those missed opportunities.
In the 14th minute, Ayebazibwe Victor opened the scoring after a precise through ball from Arode Ayesiga.
Two minutes later, Ayesiga doubled the lead with a powerful strike from distance, assisted by Gilbert Ahumuza, leaving goalkeeper Mayinja helpless.
Africa Renewal pushed back through Kajubi and Ssempijja, but Mubogi pulled off another fine save to keep the visitors ahead.
The first half ended 2–0 in favor of BSU, who combined sharp attacking play with strong defending.
After the break, the hosts came out fighting. Agaba Aldo tested Mubogi early, and their persistence finally paid off in the 72nd minute when Ejemu Simon capitalized on a defensive error to pull one back, assisted by Ssenyondo Kevin.
The goal reignited Africa Renewal’s hopes, but BSU held firm under pressure.
Mubogi produced several key saves to deny Agaba, Mpandu Keith, and Isaac Agaba as the visitors clung to their narrow lead.
When the final whistle blew, Bishop Stuart celebrated a vital away win that strengthens their bid for the knockout stage.
